Christmas mini sessions are a lovely way to capture special family memories before the festive season begins.

This year’s theme is a magical winter wonderland, with snowy Christmas trees, rustic wooden doors, festive wreaths and beautiful Christmas lights.

Here are a few simple tips to help you prepare for your session.

1. Choose the right outfits

This year’s backdrop is full of beautiful festive details, so I recommend keeping outfits simple and avoiding busy patterns or large logos. Neutral colours and cosy knitwear work beautifully without distracting from the Christmas setting. I recommend cosy knitwear and warm, neutral colours such as cream, beige, brown and forest green. Burgundy and red also work beautifully.

You don’t need to match perfectly, just choose colours that complement each other.

Small accessories can add a lovely finishing touch to your Christmas photographs.

2. Keep everyone warm

Choose comfortable clothes and cosy layers, especially for little ones. Bring warm coats and extra layers for before and after your photographs.

3. Prepare the children

Try to schedule your journey around nap and meal times so your little ones arrive happy and settled.

Don’t worry if your child is shy or doesn’t smile straight away. I’ll help everyone feel comfortable, and some of the best photographs happen naturally!

4. Arrive ready

Please arrive at your allocated time with everyone dressed and ready for their photographs. As mini sessions are short, this helps us make the most of our time together.

5. Relax and enjoy it!

You don’t need to worry about posing or getting every photograph perfect. Just enjoy spending time together, and I’ll take care of capturing those lovely smiles, cuddles and little moments.
